Branding & creative agencies, reviewed and ranked
Identity, positioning and naming. A different purchase from producing ad creative at volume — scored on strategy and distinctiveness, not throughput.

This is not the category for campaign creative
Branding agencies do positioning, messaging architecture, naming and identity systems — deep, infrequent, expensive work. If what you need is a hundred ad variants a month, that is a different purchase and a different rubric; see creative subscriptions. Buying a rebrand when you needed throughput is one of the more expensive mistakes available in marketing.
Strategy before visuals, or you are buying taste
The heaviest dimension here is strategic foundation: positioning, messaging architecture, a brand thesis. Agencies that lead with mood boards and skip to execution produce work that looks considered and cannot be defended in a room six months later, because nothing underneath it was decided.
Ask what research the decisions rest on
Good brand work is grounded in customer and market research rather than the founder's taste or the designer's. The question that separates them: when you disagreed with the client about a direction, what evidence did you bring? Agencies with a real process have an answer ready.

branding_creative rubric — the one written for what this category actually sells, not a general agency rubric. Several of these records were first filed elsewhere and scored against a rubric they were not competing in; where that happened, the record carries a rescored_from field showing the previous verdict and score, so the change is auditable rather than silent.
