Fluvio review
Worth a conversation about Conversion Copywriting once the caveats below are settled.
Product marketing consultancy with 23 named clients, a disclosed primary-research practice (one report states n=81, May 2025), and 3 verified Clutch reviews at 4.8 - but no published writing sample, no price on its own site, and zero quantified client outcomes.
Pricing: several published tiers Reported — not published by the agency
Clutch profile (read first-hand): 4.8 of 5 across 3 verified reviews, from OpenX (SVP Marketing and Communications, 5.0, Jan 2023 - Jan 2024), Verifone (CMO, 4.5, Oct 2024 - Jun 2025) and an AI security screening and analytics company (Sr Director Product Marketing, 5.0, Apr 2024 - Jan 2025). Minimum project size $10,000+, hourly rate $200-$300, 10-49 employees, Denver CO, founded 2019. source ↗
How it scored
Every dimension is scored against this discipline’s published rubric. Open one to see the claim it was scored on, what the rubric measures there and how much it weighs, and where the evidence came from.
How we scored this
We read the agency’s public record first-hand — its site, pricing, case studies and independent reviews — and score what is checkable: what is published, not how it is phrased. There is no keyword counting or sentiment scoring. The label is a judgment on those facts, which is why each dimension shows the fact that decided it, the band it was judged against, and the sources — so you can check the call, and tell us if you think it is wrong. The full method, and who pays, is on how we vet.
Readable work and named clientsAdequate
Adequate — 3 of 5 on this rubric’s scale, from Poor (1) to Excellent (5). This dimension carries 25% of the total score.
Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Strong 6 · Adequate 9 · Weak 1. The typical agency here scores Adequate, and 6 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: Unlike most categories, the deliverable here is public: if a firm wrote a client's homepage or sales page, a buyer can go read it.
Scores high — Named clients with pages a reader can actually find and judge score 4-5.
Scores low — Screenshots of copy with no attribution score 2-3 — a screenshot cannot be checked and may be spec work. A portfolio that shows only results claims and no actual writing scores 1-2, because the one thing this category can always show is the writing.
What we found — The client list is unusually well attributed for this category: /casestudies names roughly 23 companies (Worldpay, WP Engine, Stack Overflow, Verifone, OpenX, Nasdaq, Drata, Brightcove, Attentive, Bluecore, Black Crow AI and others) and carries 20-plus testimonials attributed to named executives with titles, e.g. Darcy Kurtz (CMO, WP Engine) and JoAnn Martin (CRO, Black Crow AI). Two of those named clients are independently corroborated: the Clutch profile carries verified reviews from an SVP of Marketing & Communications at OpenX and a CMO at Verifone, matching the logo wall. What is entirely missing is the writing. Across six case studies read in full (WP Engine, Drata, Verifone, Attentive, Bluecore, Black Crow AI) not one positioning statement, messaging framework, page of copy or sales asset is shown or linked. The Drata study names the concept it landed on ('continuous compliance') but shows no actual language. A buyer can verify who Fluvio worked with; a buyer cannot read a single line Fluvio wrote. Capped at Adequate on that basis, and because the client engagements themselves are self-described. That is between the two bands, which is why it scored Adequate.
On the record — “Roughly 23 clients are named publicly with logos and links, including Worldpay, WP Engine, Stack Overflow, Verifone, OpenX, Nasdaq, Drata, Brightcove, Attentive, Bluecore, Black Crow AI, Enverus, Diligent and Truckstop, alongside 20-plus testimonials attributed to named executives with titles.” fluviomarketing.com ↗
On the record — “No writing sample of any kind is published. Six case studies (WP Engine, Drata, Verifone, Attentive, Bluecore, Black Crow AI) were read in full and none shows a positioning statement, messaging framework, headline, page copy or sales asset.” fluviomarketing.com ↗
deliverability — deliverability: whether cold email actually lands in the inbox rather than spam. The tell is infrastructure talk — warmed sending domains kept separate from your main domain — because a burned domain outlasts the engagement.
attribution — working out which marketing touch actually caused a sale. Good practice names its model and its blind spots; bad practice quotes each ad platform’s self-graded numbers, which overlap and overclaim.
CRO — conversion-rate optimization: raising the share of visitors who buy or sign up through structured testing, not redesign by taste.
Evidence: partly checkable — corroborated in part against the sources below; the remainder rests on the agency’s own account.
Research and message-testing methodStrong
Strong — 4 of 5 on this rubric’s scale, from Poor (1) to Excellent (5). This dimension carries 20% of the total score.
Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Excellent 3 · Strong 7 · Adequate 5 · Weak 1. The typical agency here scores Strong, and 3 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: Where the message comes from. Look for a described research step: customer interviews, review mining, sales-call analysis, survey or message testing with real respondents.
Scores high — A named research method with a described process scores 4-5.
Scores low — 'We get to know your brand' with no method scores 2-3. Copy generated from a brief alone, with no customer input, scores 2 — it may still be good writing, but the buyer is purchasing the writer's intuition rather than their customer's language, and the verdict should say so.
What we found — This is the strongest checkable part of the firm. /voice-of-customer names four distinct methods with described processes: Voice of Buyer research (interviews with prospects and competitors' customers), Voice of Customer research (in-depth interviews with existing customers), Win/Loss analysis (structured interviews with recent wins and losses), and market segmentation combining qualitative and quantitative work. Participant recruiting is addressed directly: Fluvio can recruit itself or use client-provided access, 'sometimes using a dual approach for the most robust sample size'. More usefully, the firm publishes free, ungated primary research with methodology stated on the page: the 2025 Product Marketing Hiring Trends Report says verbatim 'Fluvio conducted a focused survey of 81 experienced PMM candidates, spanning IC PMMs to VPs, in May 2025', and reports findings against that base (e.g. 'Only 15% of surveyed candidates reported that the roles they interviewed for were very clear'); the 2025 AI Trends Report states 40 leaders interviewed and surveyed. That is a demonstrated, disclosed research practice rather than a claim of one. Not Excellent: no sample size, protocol or timeline is disclosed for any client engagement, and no message testing with real respondents (concept testing, A/B, conjoint) is described anywhere on the site. That is the high band above, which is why it scored Strong.

Outcome claims and their evidenceAdequate
Adequate — 3 of 5 on this rubric’s scale, from Poor (1) to Excellent (5). This dimension carries 15% of the total score.
Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Strong 4 · Adequate 10 · Weak 2. The typical agency here scores Adequate, and 4 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: This category runs on conversion-lift claims and almost none are checkable. Absence of any outcome claims is not a defect; overclaiming is.
Scores high — A firm that states results WITH the test conditions — sample size, duration, what was compared — scores 4-5.
Scores low — Bare percentage claims ('increased conversions 312%') with no baseline, no timeframe and no named client score 1-2 and should be flagged: an uncontrolled before/after on a page that also changed traffic mix is not a measured lift.
What we found — Measured absence, not a retrieval gap: six case study pages plus the case study index were parsed for percentage, multiple, lift, revenue and pipeline claims and returned zero quantified outcome claims. The WP Engine study lists process outcomes only ('Established a repeatable commercialization model', 'Implemented standardized GTM infrastructure'); the Verifone study says Fluvio 'left an effective function in place'; Black Crow AI's CRO says the work 'gave us the messaging building blocks we needed'. There are no bare conversion-lift percentages anywhere, which is the failure mode this dimension exists to catch, and Fluvio does not commit it. But nothing is stated with test conditions either, because nothing numeric is stated at all, so the top band is unreachable. The buyer gets no measured evidence that any engagement moved a number. That is between the two bands, which is why it scored Adequate.
On the record — “Measured absence of quantified outcome claims: the case study index and six individual case studies were parsed for percentages, multiples, lift, revenue and pipeline language and returned zero numeric client results. Outcomes are stated as process changes, e.g. 'Established a repeatable commercialization model connecting Product, Marketing, Finance, and GTM teams'.” fluviomarketing.com ↗
pipeline — the dollar value of open, qualified deals sales is working. “Pipeline created” ties marketing to money, where lead counts don’t.
CRO — conversion-rate optimization: raising the share of visitors who buy or sign up through structured testing, not redesign by taste.

Scope and pricing transparencyAdequate
Adequate — 3 of 5 on this rubric’s scale, from Poor (1) to Excellent (5). This dimension carries 15% of the total score.
Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Excellent 3 · Strong 5 · Adequate 2 · Weak 6. The typical agency here scores Strong, and 8 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: Score scope clarity alongside price: a firm that states plainly what a project covers (how many pages, how many revision rounds, whether research is included) is more useful than one implying open-ended collaboration.
Scores high — Published prices, per-asset rates, or defined packages with stated inclusions score 4-5.
Scores low — Ranges on request score 2-3; bespoke-only with no anchor scores 1-2.
What we found — Nothing is priced on Fluvio's own site. The /consulting FAQ answers the cost question with 'Engagements vary based on scope, duration, and the seniority of consultants required. Fluvio works on project-based and retainer models. Contact us to discuss your specific needs and get a custom proposal.' The /startups page describes a 'Startup Package' with stated elements (assessment of GTM health, alignment workshop, then tailored project work) but attaches no price and no fixed deliverable count. The anchor a buyer can actually use sits off-site: the Clutch profile, read first-hand, lists a $10,000+ minimum project size, a $200-$300 hourly band, and a most-common project size of $50,000 to $199,999. That is a real range on an independent profile, which lifts this above bespoke-with-no-anchor. Scope clarity is the weaker half: no page states how many deliverables, pages, assets or documents an engagement covers, and the mid-market FAQ answers engagement length with 'It depends on the scope and business need.' That is between the two bands, which is why it scored Adequate.
On the record — “No price is published on Fluvio's own site. The consulting FAQ states verbatim: 'Engagements vary based on scope, duration, and the seniority of consultants required. retainer — a fixed monthly fee regardless of hours or output — predictable, but worth tying to a defined scope.
deliverability — deliverability: whether cold email actually lands in the inbox rather than spam. The tell is infrastructure talk — warmed sending domains kept separate from your main domain — because a burned domain outlasts the engagement.

Process and revision structureAdequate
Adequate — 3 of 5 on this rubric’s scale, from Poor (1) to Excellent (5). This dimension carries 10% of the total score.
Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Excellent 2 · Strong 4 · Adequate 10. The typical agency here scores Adequate, and 6 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: How a project runs: discovery, draft, revision rounds, handoff format, and who implements. Note whether the firm hands over a document or implements in the client's CMS, since that determines who carries the last mile.
Scores high — Defined stages with a stated revision count score 4-5.
Scores low — No described process scores 2-3.
What we found — A three-stage process is published on /consulting: (1) Review and Audit, (2) Construct team and develop proposal, described as producing 'proven product marketing tactics and timelines', (3) Execute and Deliver. The last-mile question the rubric asks about is answered clearly and in Fluvio's favour: the model is explicitly embedded rather than deliverable-and-handoff, with 'senior full-time PMM practitioners' who 'attend your meetings' and 'operate like senior internal hires', and the firm says it executes and measures inside the client's team rather than handing over a document. What is absent is any revision structure: no revision round count, no draft or approval cycle, and no definition of what 'delivered' means for a positioning or messaging engagement. Stages exist, the contract around them does not. That is between the two bands, which is why it scored Adequate.

Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Excellent 3 · Strong 6 · Adequate 1 · Weak 6. The typical agency here scores Strong, and 9 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: Stated timelines per deliverable and how far out the firm books. Small studios and solo-principal firms are common here; a stated booking lead time is a mark of honesty rather than a limitation, and should be scored as such.
Scores high — Published timelines score 4-5.
Scores low — Undisclosed scheduling scores 2.
What we found — One scheduling fact is published and it is the honest kind the rubric rewards: the /consulting FAQ states start availability as 'Typically within 1-2 weeks of scoping. We match consultants based on your specific challenge, industry, and the profile of expertise you need.' Beyond that, nothing. No per-deliverable timeline appears for positioning, messaging, research or a launch; the mid-market FAQ declines to state engagement duration ('It depends on the scope and business need'); the startup FAQ answers 'How quickly can we see results' with 'Usually pretty quickly, with clarity as a common first win', which is not a timeline. Clutch shows engagement dates spanning roughly nine to twelve months (Oct 2024 - Jun 2025 at Verifone; Jan 2023 - Jan 2024 at OpenX), which is indicative of typical duration but is not a published commitment. A booking lead time is stated; a delivery schedule is not. That is between the two bands, which is why it scored Adequate.

Benchmark — across the 16 other agencies evaluated in this discipline, this dimension runs Strong 1 · Adequate 1 · Weak 14. The typical agency here scores Weak, and 1 of them score higher than this one.
What this dimension measures: Independent, verified reviews. Low weight deliberately, because in this category the published writing is stronger evidence than a review count.
Scores low — A substantial verified base scores 4-5; a handful scores 2-3; none located scores 2.
What we found — Clutch profile read first-hand: 4.8 out of 5 across 3 verified reviews, from OpenX (SVP Marketing and Communications, 5.0), Verifone (CMO, 4.5) and an unnamed AI security screening and analytics company (Sr Director, Product Marketing, 5.0); company listed at 10-49 employees, Denver CO, founded 2019. Three reviews is a handful, not a substantial base. No G2 profile was located. Glassdoor entries exist but are employee reviews and are not client evidence. The on-site testimonial wall is larger (20-plus named executives) but is vendor-controlled and not independently verifiable. Worth noting the two Clutch reviewers match names on the public client list, which corroborates the logo wall rather than just the rating.

Verdict
Fluvio is a product marketing consultancy, founded 2019 and based in Denver, that sells positioning, messaging, buyer research, pricing and packaging, GTM infrastructure and PMM recruiting. It sits in this category because positioning and messaging is a named core practice with a described method, but a buyer should understand what they would be commissioning: Fluvio positions itself explicitly against agencies, describing embedded 'senior full-time PMM practitioners' who join a client's meetings and sprint reviews rather than delivering a copy document from outside. Someone shopping for a landing page rewrite or an email sequence is not this firm's buyer; someone whose message is unclear at the strategy layer is.
The evidence base is unusually solid on identity and unusually thin on product. Roughly 23 named clients are published, including Worldpay, WP Engine, Stack Overflow, Verifone, OpenX, Nasdaq, Drata, Attentive and Bluecore, with case studies and named-executive quotes; two of those engagements are corroborated independently by verified Clutch reviews from an OpenX SVP and the Verifone CMO.
The research practice is real and demonstrated rather than asserted: Voice of Buyer, Voice of Customer, win/loss and segmentation are each described as distinct methods, and the firm publishes free primary research with methodology on the page, including a survey stated verbatim as 81 experienced PMM candidates from IC to VP level conducted in May 2025, with findings reported against that base. Publishing a sample size and a fielding date, ungated, is a check most firms in this category fail.
What cannot be checked is the work itself. Six case studies were read end to end and none contains a positioning statement, a messaging framework, a headline, a page of copy or a sales asset; the Drata study names the idea it arrived at but shows none of the language. In a category where the deliverable is normally public and readable, a buyer cannot read one line Fluvio wrote and must judge the writing entirely on reputation.
The same absence extends to results: a parse of every case study for percentages, multiples and revenue language returned nothing. That cuts both ways and is worth saying plainly - there are no uncontrolled conversion-lift claims here at all, which is a mark in Fluvio's favour, but there is also no measured evidence that any engagement changed a number, only process outcomes such as 'established a repeatable commercialization model' and executive testimony that the work helped.
Commercial terms are the remaining gap. Fluvio's own site publishes no price, answering the cost question with a custom-proposal invitation, and declines to state engagement length; the only usable anchor sits on Clutch, which lists a $10,000 minimum, a $200-$300 hourly band and a most-common project size of $50,000 to $199,999.
Scope is left open by design in the embedded model, with no stated deliverable count and no revision structure, and the only published timing commitment is that work typically starts within one to two weeks of scoping. A buyer approaching Fluvio should expect to negotiate scope, deliverables and duration from scratch, and should ask directly to see writing produced for a prior client and any before-and-after measurement, because neither exists on the public record.

What other platforms say
Three verified Clutch reviews averaging 4.8 (OpenX 5.0, Verifone 4.5, an unnamed AI security screening company 5.0). Reviewers consistently praise output quality, timeliness and the embedded working style - one notes the team 'was embedded in our workflow, tools, and meetings' and another that 'the output was extremely high-quality, which was generally not the case' with consulting firms. Reviews speak to seniority and integration, not to measured marketing outcomes. Three reviews is a small base; no G2 profile was located, and Glassdoor entries are employee rather than client evidence.
These are other platforms' numbers, not ours. We report them because they are part of the picture, and we do not average them into our score — our score comes from the published rubric above.
What we could not verify
- What does Fluvio's actual writing look like? No positioning statement, messaging framework, headline or page of copy is published anywhere on the site or in any case study.
- Did any engagement move a measurable number? No case study states a conversion, revenue, pipeline or launch metric, with or without test conditions.
- What does an engagement cost? No price appears on Fluvio's own site; the only anchor is the $10,000 minimum and $200-$300 hourly band listed on Clutch.
- How many deliverables, documents or revision rounds does a project include? The embedded model is described but never bounded.
- How long does a positioning or messaging engagement take, and how far out is the firm booked beyond the stated 1-2 weeks to start?
- What sample sizes and protocols are used in client-side Voice of Customer and win/loss research? Sample sizes are disclosed for Fluvio's own published reports but never for client work.
- Is message testing with real respondents part of the offering? No concept testing, A/B testing or conjoint method is described anywhere.
- Which of the 23 named clients bought positioning and messaging specifically, versus recruiting, pricing or GTM infrastructure work?
